Wildlife Guide & Nature Photographer
Slim Chebby is a wildlife guide, birdwatcher and nature photographer whose passion for birds and wild places began at an early age in the Atlas Mountains of northern Tunisia.Growing up surrounded by mountains and natural landscapes, Slim spent much of his childhood exploring the countryside observing birds and wildlife. Although his professional career initially took him into IT and the corporate world as an engineer, his passion for nature and photography never faded.
Photography eventually became a way for Slim to combine his love of wildlife with his desire to explore. His photographic journey led him to participate in scientific expeditions across North Africa, where he worked alongside researchers and helped the scientific community through his field photography and wildlife documentation. These experiences allowed to contribute to conservation-related projects and meet passionate naturalists, scientists, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts from around the world.
After years of balancing his professional career with his passion for wildlife, Slim decided to make a complete career change and become a professional nature and wildlife guide. With more than five years of guiding experience, he has led birdwatching and wildlife tours across Tunisia as well as nature excursions around Paris and Sri Lanka. His experience in different environments has given him a broad understanding of bird identification, wildlife behaviour, photography and the practical aspects of finding
and observing species in the field.
Sri Lanka has become a particularly important destination for Slim. Its extraordinary biodiversity, endemic bird species, diverse habitats and rich wildlife offer endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Together with Nithan, Slim regularly undertakes research trips to explore new locations, identify promising birding sites and develop wildlife experiences that allow visitors to observe Sri Lanka's remarkable species in a respectful and responsible way. They also work on developing and improving birdwatching hides and observation sites, with the goal of creating better opportunities to see some of Sri Lanka's most sought-after and elusive birds.
For Slim, guiding is much more than simply finding birds. It is about sharing knowledge, creating memorable experiences, understanding nature and helping guests develop their own connection with wildlife.
His background as a photographer also gives him a special perspective in the field, allowing him to help guests not only find wildlife but also understand how to observe and photograph it responsibly.
